Horseshoe Crab Ritual – Slaughter Beach – Delaware

The Horseshoe Crabs come ashore on the evening high tide on a full or new moon in May and June. The female crab shimmies into the sand and 12 – 15 males will surround her. Unfortunately, the horseshoe crab population is in decline.
